Grants are moving targets. And they proliferate. So we need to stick together on this: please email us with news of grants or awards we've overlooked, changes or general comments.

Newsletters may be the most efficient way to keep up with grant announcements, especially if you prefer the convenience of electronic delivery into your Inbox. This list reflects a wide range news sources available to those seeking funding. Some are daily feeds, others are weekly or bi-weekly publications; some are monthly magazines available in multiple formats, and some serve to promote the services of grant writers or grant consultants. Contents should give you an idea of what to expect in terms of subscription fees, organizational memberships (when applicable), and the depth of the grant content (some newsletters focus exclusively on grants, while others cast a wider net but cover grants extensively).

  A to Z Grantwriting

Contents: This monthly newsletter is written and produced by a development consultant, grant writer, and grant-writing instructor promoting her services online. The focus is on California and national funding opportunities as well as federal funding sources in a variety of topics (including Education; Arts & Culture, Community Improvement; and Children & Youth.   AFP eWire

Creator/Publisher: Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)
Contents: Sent automatically via e-mail every Tuesday to its members, AFP eWire delivers the latest fundraising news and information. The newsletter consists of a Top Story, Funding News, AFP Announcements, AFP Member Exclusives, and Job Listings/Resources. AFP represents 30,000 members from around the world.

  Advancing Philanthropy

Creator/Publisher: Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)
Contents: Another publication of AFP, this bi-monthly magazine provides practical information, tools, and other resources to help AFP members “succeed and advance" in the world of philanthropy. AFP members automatically receive the magazine, but subscriptions may be obtained by non-members and institutions.

  Daily Federal Register

Creator/Publisher: Office of the Federal Register
Contents: This is the official daily publication for rules, proposed rules, and notices of federal agencies and organizations, as well as executive orders and other presidential documents. It is updated daily by 6 a.m. and is published Monday through Friday, except on federal holidays. GPO Access site contains Federal Register volumes from 59 (1994) to the present. One of the most frequently requested materials from the Federal Register are those that are grant-related.

  Education Funding Watch

Creator/Publisher: The Foundation Center
Contents: This Foundation Center’s newsletter is devoted to education-related topics, including news, resources, funding opportunities for individuals and organizations, and job listings. The newsletter is available exclusively to visitors who register.

  Education World’s Grants Newsletter

Creator/Publisher: Education World
Contents: In this free bi-weekly e-newsletter, expert Don Peek provides informative articles and tools and highlights current grants of interest to educators. This is one of 12 free e-newsletters available on Education World’s site. Users are encouraged to subscribe to each newsletter of interest. Others include Professional Development, Education News Headlines, and Site Reviews.

  Funding Alert Newsletter

Creator/Publisher: Society for Nonprofit Organization (SNO)
Contents: This monthly e-newsletter for SNO members provides extensive listing of funding opportunities, organized by category (including Arts & Culture; Regional; Education; Community; etc.).   Grants for Libraries Hotline

Creator/Publisher: Quinlan
Contents: This monthly newsletter, well established and widely used by library professionals, describes grant opportunities for libraries and librarians, as well as opportunities in the field of education. Some of the popular features include legislative updates, research tips, listings of upcoming events, and technology updates. Issues may be purchased individually or in sets.

  GrantStation Insider & GrantStation International Insider Newsletter

Creator/Publisher: GrantStation
Contents: All GrantStation members automatically receive GrantStation Insider weekly e-newsletter. Delivered on Mondays, it covers national and regional grant opportunities alerts on federal deadlines. A sample issue may be read here. The GrantStation International Insider is a monthly e-newsletter providing the latest grant announcements for non-governmental (NGO) and nonprofit organizations working internationally. Contents: A product of LibraryWorks, this free newsletter covers library product news and best practices to help maximize the potential of libraries. Grants and funding are covered extensively, but they aren’t the newsletter’s sole focus. The September/October issue provided a thorough listing of 45 grant opportunities.

  Nonprofit World Magazine

Creator/Publisher: Society for Nonprofit Organizations (SNO)
Contents: Published since 1983, this bi-monthly magazine provides nonprofit leaders with concise articles and practical advice. For $49-150/year, members receive access to current issues as well as full access to an online archive of over 700 searchable and printable articles dating back to 1996. View free articles from past issues here. Due to file sizes, articles prior to 1996 are only available on CD-ROM.

  Philanthropy News Digest (PND)

Creator/Publisher: Foundation Center
Contents: A daily news service of the Foundation Center, PND is a compendium (in digest format) of philanthropy-related articles and features culled from print and electronic media outlets nationwide. Each PND abstract summarizes the content of, or from, an original article, press or news release, or grant-maker web site. Each abstract includes a citation of the original news source, which readers can use to read the original web site or to find a copy of the original article (if abstracted from a print source) through a library or a document delivery service.

  SchoolGrants Biweekly Newsletter (SBN)

Creator/Publisher: Donna Fernandez
Contents: Provided in three formats (single-column PDF, double-column PDF, and single column RTF), this newsletter provides information on grants for K-12 educators. For $45/year, subscribers get two issues a month; grant writing tips; online grant writing resources; info on grant and fundraising opportunities; grant deadline alerts, and an opportunity to participate on a listserv. The newsletter is a service of SchoolGrants.org (see Grant Web Sites for more information).

  Technology Grant News

Creator/Publisher: Technology Grant News
Contents: Published quarterly, Technology Grant News covers the latest grant offerings, with live web site links for access to various areas of interest. It also includes profiles of winning projects and directions in technology development. It is available in Electronic and Electronic with Print editions. When you subscribe, you receive a complimentary Grant Index.
